The key to keeping water out of the window with sliding sashes is to use good quality seals. Magnum sliders are fitting with co-extruded PVC lip-seal to sill and wide double weatherpile seals to head, jamb and meeting stiles. We have not assumed that no water will ever get into the sill channel where the sash slides - as this assumes too much. If water should get past the seals it has to be drained out of the system.
Patented Sump Sill Drainage: Series
601 and Series 602
Both window types have been fitted with our patented anti blow-back
ball valve system and concealed drainage holes.

If
water should get past the seals when the sash is closed,
or into the sill area while the moving sash is partly
open. |
|
This water runs off the running rail and then passes through the concealed patented anti blow-back ball valves. These valves reduce the amount of air blowing back up through the drainage system. |

The
valves drain water into the sump sill where it can
escape through external drainage holes at each
end of the window. |
