| SERIES 514 and 453 Double-hung Window Lock | |
Springs: Sash weight is supported by the appropriate strength
spring. |
|
Sash
Stops: The travel of top and bottom sashes is
restricted by nylon stops as shown lower left. The
stops run through to head / sill to ensure that the
stop stays in position when struck by the moving sash.
On competitor windows the stop relies on a single
fixing screw - this has been known to fail. |
|
Friction
Shoes: The spring balances are supported with
adjustable friction shoes shown top left. |
|
Friction
Shoe Protection: The shoes are recessed into the bottom
of the sashes. When the top sash is pulled fully down and
the sash side rail runs into the sash stop - the shoe is
protected from the impact.S |
|
Shoe
Adjustment: With Philips screw driver its possible
to tighten or loosen the friction shoe as shown lower
right. Turn the screw driver clockwise to tighten the
shoe and anti-clockwise to loosen the shoe. Support
the weight of the sashes as you adjust the shoes. |
|
Important
Note: Do NOT lubricant
to the slide shoe recess (jamb) as this would have a very
detrimental impact on the spring friction shoes. |
